Job Creation: It’s not just for companies anymore

If we all created just one job…

We can’t seem to get away from it. Turn on any news station these days, and the topic of conversation will always turn to one thing – jobs, jobs, jobs. Where are the Job Creators?

For those of us without the means to, say, open a factory and stimulate the local economy, it’s easy to feel helpless. What can we possibly do to improve the current state of affairs?

As it turns out, there’s a potential Job Creator in all of us. Could your yard use some TLC? Not sure what to do with Fido during your weekend getaway? Are there corners of your garage you haven’t seen since 1995? Consider hiring local teens to help you finally finish all of those household tasks.

Not sure where to start? Rock Your Block can help. Rock Your Block is a social application that helps teens find odd jobs within their local community. When you post your odd job, local teens can find and apply for it. The end result is win-win: teens are empowered with tons of life skills (professionalism, money management, responsibility, and so much more), AND you can finally check something off of your to-do list – knowing you did something good for the community in the process.

But Rock Your Block isn’t just for household tasks. Have you always wanted to learn a new language? Could your child use some extra help in math? Are you looking to create a web page or learn more about social media? Think outside the box and use Rock Your Block to discover the skills of teens in your area – you may be surprised by what you can learn.

We all have the potential to be a Job Creator and help the next generation learn the value of hard work and responsibility. Take a moment to think about how you could utilize the skills of local teens, and then sign up for our Beta version to get started!
