Rock Your Block Kickoff

Sep 18, 2010   //   by Rock Your Block   //   Block Blog  //  No Comments

Rock Your BlockTM is an online community designed to connect teenage students and adults within their neighborhood community. This online community will be directed to teenage students who want to find work and earn money by performing “odd jobs” for others. These may include: mowing lawns, babysitting, and taking care of pets. The focus of the community will provide a safe tool for teenage students to connect with potential “odd jobs” offered by adults and organizations within their community while nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit and leadership. Through Rock Your Block, we want to empower teenage students to develop their skills and abilities, build a strong work ethic, and learn the value of money. Rock Your Block is an invaluable resource because it leverages the trust and credibility of the user’s pre-existing social networks.

Rock Your Block was started as a project at the Startup Weekend Twin Cities event on September 17, 2010. Team members are Sarah Young, Sean Canton, Max Harper, Joel Gerdeen, John Hibscher and Mike Wesely.
